John Michael and Kimmy Durr have relocated Durr Eventing and Show Jumping to Western North Carolina from Castro Valley, CA. Their new 13-acre farm with ample pasture space and a spacious 10-stall barn is ideal for the active equestrian professional, and the Durrs look forward to expanding their training and sales business in the heart of Carolina horse country.
“This area has a rich equestrian culture and active riding community. We are excited to be conveniently located nearby several top notch eventing and hunter/jumper competition venues,” JM said.“Our new central location allows us the opportunity to be multi-disciplined and to focus on training and developing horses that are just starting their careers or moving to the next level as well as showcase horses that are currently competing at the top of their game.”
Durr Eventing and Show Jumping is now in close proximity to world-class facilities such as the Tryon International Equestrian Center, Stable View, Carolina Horse Park and Virginia Horse Center. These as well as countless other established venues throughout the Tryon, NC and Aiken, SC equestrian communities provide a variety of training and competition opportunities for horses and students at all levels throughout the year.“We can show hunters and jumpers at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in the morning and then take eventers to school cross country at FENCE or Windridge in the afternoon. From a training perspective, that flexibility is not only extremely efficient but also cost effective,” John Michael said.
Individuals looking to purchase their next equine partner with the assistance of Durr Eventing and Show Jumping will appreciate both the high density of quality horses in the immediate area, as well as the convenient access to airports in Charlotte, Asheville, and Greenville.
Such advantages to the new location mean that Durr Eventing and Show Jumping can provide affordable services with the highest possible monetary or educational return on a client’s investment.
“The West Coast is our family, our home, but to get to the next level it was time for us to spread our wings. I know we will carry the many years of memories and close friendships with us on this new adventure. We won’t be strangers. We will return often for clinics and hope to compete there again one day.”Kimmy is continuing her journey towards becoming a USEF Licensed Eventing Judge while JM has a strong focus on matching riders with their perfect eventer, hunter/jumper or dressage horse. With their combined experience, the Durrs are committed to guiding students and horses on the path to success at all levels and disciplines.
From their new North Carolina home base, Durr Eventing and Show Jumping will offer several unique training opportunities. These include a special young horse package encompassing the first 90 days of training and each young horse’s first outing in the selected discipline. Coming soon to the new facility will be training and performance services for stallions from starting under saddle to approvals to competing.
Durr Eventing and Show Jumping is eager to accept new students and sales horses and to connect with owners who are interested in being part of the journey to the top levels of equestrian sport.
